House - Before & After
Kitchen
Wood burning stove had the one and only colour acceptable in the village. The tiles were also covered with oil paint. We had to pull down the stove and the stove-corner so there was a black scary wall left for some time. This room was also a bathroom until we made our way to a real one :)
Living room
The ants lived in the living room for quite a long time. They would come out from the floor and one had to stamp well before entering the room. The old photos were taken after we pulled down a narrow quasi-bathroom that was built by the former hosts. We used the door leading to it to create a pantry in the corner of the living room.
Bedroom
At first we had just camp-beds, then mattresses from the army beds on wooden frames and finally - a real mattress. Wilkus was satisfied with all of these anyway :)
Bathroom
We decided to put the bathroom in one of the rooms painted in a very stylish pattern. We chose this one for we have always dreamt of brushing our teeth and watching the lake through the window at the same time. The loo visible in the photo was a big step forward. Before that - we practiced wood&spade a lot:)
Guest room in the attic
It was placed in the part of the attic where grain used to be stored so just mice and rats lived there. Dump-patched chimneys and horrible cobwebs would bring horror movies to one's mind rather than guests :)
Borys'es bedroom in the attic
As you can see the room had side walls and the ceiling right above one's head and it made rather claustrophobic impression.
Our furniture
The closer one became a chest in the bathroom, the further - a cock-patterned cupborad in the kitchen.
Staircase leading to the cellar
The cellar and the stairs used to be built around with a kind of wooden cage which one had to face right after entering the house.
